How I Became an Early Riser

I’ve found that waking early has been one of the best things I’ve done as I’ve changed my life recently, and thought you might like to know how I get up at 4:30 a.m.
For many years, I was a late riser. I loved to sleep . Then things changed, because I had to wake up between 6-6:30 a.m. to read and cope up with my grades. Some years before i felt the need to exercise. So getting up earlier still was needed.
So, I set out to make waking up early a habit. I started by getting up at 5:30 a.m., then at 5 a.m. When that became a habit, and I had to wake up at 4 a.m.during tenth standard, it wasn’t a problem. Now that I completed tenth standard, I don’t need to wake that early anymore, but have settled on a happy compromise of waking at 4:30 a.m. Some days, when I’m really tired (if I go to sleep late), I’ll wake at 5:00 or 5:30, but that’s still earlier than I used to wake up.
Here are my tips for becoming an early riser:
  • Don’t make drastic changes. Start slowly, by waking just 15-30 minutes earlier than usual. Get used to this for a few days. Then cut back another 15 minutes. Do this gradually until you get to your goal time.
  • Allow yourself to sleep earlier. You might be used to staying up late, perhaps watching TV or surfing the Internet. But if you continue this habit, while trying to get up earlier, sooner or later one is going to give. And if it is the early rising that gives, then you will crash and sleep late and have to start over. I suggest going to bed earlier, even if you don’t think you’ll sleep, and read while in bed. If you’re really tired, you just might fall asleep much sooner than you think.
  • Put your alarm clock far from you bed. If it’s right next to your bed, you’ll shut it off or hit snooze. Never hit snooze. If it’s far from your bed, you have to get up out of bed to shut it off. By then, you’re up. Now you just have to stay up.
  • Do not rationalize.Go out of the bedroom as soon as you shut off the alarm. If you allow your brain to talk you out of getting up early, you’ll never do it. Don’t make getting back in bed an option.
  • Allow yourself to sleep in once in awhile. Despite what I just said in the previous point, once in awhile it’s nice to sleep in. As long as it’s not a regular thing. I do it maybe once a week or so.
  • Make waking up early a reward. Yes, it might seem at first that you’re forcing yourself to do something hard, but if you make it pleasurable, soon you will look forward to waking up early. My reward used to be watching the sunrise, or meditating. Find something that’s pleasurable for you, and allow yourself to do it as part of your morning routine.
  • Take advantage of all that extra time. Don’t wake up an hour or two early just to check your emails, unless that’s a major goal of yours. Don’t wake up early and waste that extra time. Get a jump start on your day! I like to use that time on planning for the rest of the day, on exercising or meditating, and on reading. By the time 6:30 rolls around, I’ve done more than many people do the entire day.
  • Enjoy the break of dawn! As much as you can, look outside (or better yet, get outside!) and watch the sky turn light. It’s beautiful. And it’s quiet and peaceful. It’s now ,my favorite time of day. Getting up early is a reward in itself for me.

Breaking The Habit

"I don't know how I got this way
I know it's not alright.
So I'm breaking the habit,
I'm breaking the habit Tonight"

These are the lyrics from one of the songs of linkin park.Me too have cultivated a habit.

I have started biting my nails ,it is that simple .And the funny thing is i didn’t even notice this for about a month. But now i realise how can a habit overpower our will. Now, i cant stop it and am getting scolded by my mom for this.
I can’t be living this way.You have a feeling that you are having the control of your mind and body but when you actually put it to a test you fail. That is the most awkward feeling anybody could ever have.
So,I’ve decided to dedicate the coming week for the eradication of this habit.I’ve referred a couple of books and got some ways. One of the ways is to keep a tag. That is ,a thing that will remember you to stick to your goals. It may be an elastic band on my wrist .I am supposed to  switch it from one hand to another ,in case i bite my nail.this would be a reminder of course. But i don’t prefer this.
Another nice trick is to slap or to pinch yourselves(may seem childish) whenever you get an impulse to take a bite of your nails. So, I hope these two tricks will do more than enough .
After accomplishing these goals i am damn sure that i will have a better control over myself. This will surely help me in reading whenever i want(which i don’t do now) and can aim at higher grades. It’s not that i do all this for achieving good marks. When you get control over yourselves you have an inner peace ,that is,you can feel happy when you really want to be happy.cut back your worries and live for today. That will take me and you in our journey to a happy life.

I really welcome all suggestions by my valuable 4 readers(including me) to increase self control.

Life Transformation

hello readers…
Actually speaking, I thought i lived the right way.The ideal way.I have read many books on living, by both modern and ancient authors. But, I haven’t  reaped any real benefits out of them.Only now i realise that the problem is not with the books, but was with me.i haven’t worked out any of the beautiful methods the books offered.I practically see the effects.
I cant actually be satisfied with my life.So now i realise my mistake. Now, i resolve to fill my life with all the happiness ,energy ,health and wealth. And this i resolve to do within two months at maximum. My main tools will be teachings  of zen ,robin sharma and vivekandha. Now, i offer you a ride in my journey. After all i am your friend . ask me the doubts you have through this blog,or email(cbchak@gmail.com). I now promise to update this blog periodically , at least once or twice a week.
So, see you at the top…
